Joachim Frank

Joachim Frank is a celebrated German-born American biophysicist and Nobel Prize Laureate, with tenure at the prestigious Columbia University in the USA. Frank is regarded as the founder of single-particle cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), a huge advancement in structural biology, for which he was co-awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2017, alongside esteemed colleagues Jacques Dubochet and Richard Henderson.
Frank’ significant contributions to the field of biophysics have been recognised with six highly-regarded awards, including the ultimate accolade, The Nobel Prize.
