Alvin Roth

Alvin Roth is an American academic; he is President of the American Economic Association, Professor of economics at the prestigious Stanford University, and Professor of economics and business administration at Harvard University. In 2012, his work was globally recognised with a Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences, awarded for the theory of stable allocations and the practice of market design.
Roth has made significant contributions to the fields of game theory, market design and experimental economics, notably for his emphasis on applying economic theory to solutions for “real-world” problems. Roth championed the use of economic theory to find practical solutions for social challenges, such as efficiently matching students with high-schools and doctors with hospitals.
